They key thing to do is to get clear on your brand personality; this is all the different ways you show up online. For smaller/personal brands this also include your OWN personality.

The Alter-Ego Exercise

  1. Define all of the alter-egos of your personality

  2. Imagine that each alter-ego were an actual person, and then identify what type of expertise would that person have. What would their core values be? What advise would they give?

This will help highlight your core values and identify what your secret sauce is.

repeatable brand messages; What is this and how can BRANDS identify what their message is?(7:15)

Repeatable brand messages are messages you want to be known for. These can be messages that inspire, entertain or educate. You can have up to 20 brand messages which ultimately come from the actual struggles and pain points your customers have, as much as your driving force behind your brand.

What made you go into business?

What made you choose your particular business/industry?

Why did you choose this particular type of client?

These brand messages will show up in all the ways you share content and show up online. This can be from inspirational posts to highly valuable and educational content. This also helps building that know, like, and trust factor.

When building a business, your personality goes hand in hand with building a brand message. What are some ideas to HELP incorporate your secret sauce to make your brand stand out? (14:29)

The clearer you can get in answering your clients pin point problems the better. Don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Don’t be afraid to repeat yourself and be consistent. Think about what you brand is helping solve and reinforce that.
