E32: AVOIDING BURNOUT WHILE RUNNING A BUSINESS with tammie bennett


Joining in this episode is Tammie Bennet who is a mindset coach and the host of show up society podcast. Tammy has been coaching runners for over 12 years, and loves taking what she learns from her athletes and using it to help people show up in the tiniest way so they can achieve their goals.

We are going to talk about being burned out this episode, what causes it and how we can determine burn out and of course, how we can avoid the burn out. Listen as Tammie shares her experiences and her perspective on dealing with burnouts. 

Connecting Coaching Athletes to Coaching Business Owners 

For Tammie, sports can translate to anything in life. Because in sports and owning a business, you have a big goal and then you have smaller goals to get you there, Same as for business you have little achievements that translates into bigger goals. Athletes and business owners are both goal oriented. Basically, you share a mindset of an athlete and of a business owner. 

We really need to listen to, to how we feel about each portion of our business and then determine what is the next best move

Being Burned Out  

We put too much pressure on every step of the process. We think that every part of the step needs to be successful, another reason why we get burnout is because if something doesn't go well, we make it mean something about us, or we think that something has gone wrong. We forget to take a moment and celebrate small wins. We tend to be in a rush on our goals and this is one of the reasons why we burn out.

Listening to your body when it’s about to burn out 

You can be aware and check in with yourself every day, stop for a second and assess things if this will lead you into burning out physically or mentally. Let your self do another productive task that don’t require physical energy. There are days that require low energy to pass on, more on like active rest day. 

Pay attention to what you are feeling because then if we're ignoring that, then a lot of other things can consider, like creating this domino effect.

Avoiding tHE BURNOUT

Write down the answer to your 3 questions, why am I doing this? what is it that you want?   And then why I'm the right person to get it done. List your qualities about like how you're a hard worker what is one thing that you're going to do today to make it happen. 

Change your mindset, it is on how you think and shift your way into thinking positively. When you are in the recovering phase take a look back on what you have accomplished and your wins.
